About Rock Steady Boxing Minooka
Rock Steady Boxing Minooka has TWO officially certified Rock Steady Boxing Coaches as well as additional volunteer coaches with decades of boxing experience under their belts. This means you will be learning the sport of boxing from experienced boxers and veteran fighters at K-FIT!
Rock Steady Boxing Coach Kenji is a Team USA Boxing affiliated coach, a certified personal trainer and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has coached MMA fighters, boxers and athletes for over a decade, and has been working with Parkinson’s fighters for the past year. Prior to his move to Minooka in 2015, he worked under head coach Justin Fortune at Fortune Gym in Hollywood, California and at Reign Training Center under head coach Mark Munoz in Orange County, California. Rock Steady Boxing Minooka meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30am.
Rock Steady Boxing Coach Anne first began training in boxing in 2010. She is passionate about helping men and women who would not normally walk into any gym – let alone a boxing gym – transform their bodies and their self-image. Anne encourages people of all ages and abilities to feel confident, powerful and strong, no matter where they are at physically at this very moment. It doesn’t matter if you are not able to run, or even walk – boxing can empower you from a seated position to take back control of your health and your life.
Anne's dad Pete was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 6 years ago. When Anne and Kenji first heard about Rock Steady boxing it sounded like a perfect fit for their family. They already had the years of boxing experience, and they just had to learn the Rock Steady Method to find out how boxing could help Pete! Kenji went to Indianapolis to get trained in the Rock Steady Method and has been training Pete for the past two years. When Anne and Kenji saw the improvements in Pete after just a few months of Rock Steady Boxing, they knew they needed to open a gym and offer the program to the rest of the area, as no other gyms offered it at the time. K-FIT was born as a result, and we now have a large group of Rock Steady Boxers who all have their own success stories to share!
We have two options for class times: the Beginner Rock Steady Boxing class meets at 10:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Once you have learned the basics in this class, if you are physically able to step up to a more challenging class, we also have an Intermediate/Advanced level Rock Steady Boxing class at 8:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
If it is your first time coming to K-FIT, the gym that is home to Rock Steady Boxing Minooka, here are some tips on how to find us:
Our address is 512 Twin Rail Drive, Unit 210. Twin Rail is an Industrial Park located just off of Ridge Road in Minooka. At the corner of Ridge Road and Twin Rail Drive is Chapin's East banquet hall. There is only one direction you can turn onto Twin Rail (West). After Chapin's, our building is the fourth building on the left. It can be confusing because there are two buildings at 512 Twin Rail, and we are the second building. Integrity Automotive is the first building (512 Twin Rail Drive 100 building) and we are the second unit down in 512 Twin Rail Drive 200 building. There is parking along our building and across from us (behind Integrity), but we do ask that you do not block the garage door of the unit next to us. Our neighbor next door is a security company and they need to get in and out of that garage during the day. As long as you aren't blocking a large garage door, you are free to park anywhere in the lot.
We invite anyone diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease to come hang out and watch our 10:30am class on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Shoot us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you the paperwork you will need to fill out before taking part in your first class. You do not have to have this paperwork filled out in order to come watch a class!
We look forward to meeting you!
Our motto at Rock Steady Boxing Minooka is SHARP MINDS, STRONG BODIES, FIGHT BACK!
